Platform Notice
Drive Connect facilitates marketplace transactions between independent Operators and verified Renters. The rental agreement is between the Renter and the Operator. Drive Connect administers payment processing but is not a party to the rental agreement.
1. Rental Agreement Structure
When a Renter books a vehicle through Drive Connect, a rental agreement is formed between the Renter and the Operator. Drive Connect is not a party to this agreement. Drive Connect facilitates the transaction and administers payment but does not own, operate, or control the vehicle.
The rental agreement is governed by these Rental Terms, the Operator's specific vehicle rules (disclosed in the listing), and applicable law.
2. Renter Eligibility
To rent a vehicle through Drive Connect, Renters must:
- Be at least 21 years of age (25 for luxury and specialty vehicles, unless otherwise specified) - Hold a valid driver's license in their jurisdiction - Have completed Drive Connect's verification process - Maintain active personal auto insurance meeting minimum coverage requirements - Have no active fraud flags or account suspensions
Operators may impose additional eligibility requirements, which are disclosed in the vehicle listing.
3. Booking and Confirmation
Bookings are confirmed when the Renter accepts the rental terms and payment is processed by Drive Connect. The Renter will receive a booking confirmation via email.
Operators may cancel confirmed bookings in exceptional circumstances. In the event of an Operator cancellation, Drive Connect will refund the full rental payment to the Renter.
Renters who cancel bookings are subject to the cancellation policy disclosed at the time of booking. Cancellation fees may apply.
4. Payment
The Renter pays Drive Connect the total amount due at booking, including:
- Rental fee (set by the Operator) - Protection Plan fee (if selected) - Applicable platform fees (disclosed at checkout)
Drive Connect acts as the authorized payment administrator. The Renter's payment to Drive Connect satisfies the Renter's payment obligation to the Operator.
Security deposits are a separate transaction between the Renter and the Operator. Security deposits are not processed through Drive Connect's payment administration system.
5. Vehicle Pickup
At vehicle pickup, the Renter and Operator must:
- Complete pre-rental photo documentation through the Drive Connect platform - Document the vehicle's condition before the rental begins - Confirm the rental period start time - Complete the security deposit authorization (if required by the Operator)
The Renter should not accept a vehicle without completing pre-rental documentation. Failure to document pre-existing damage may affect the Renter's ability to dispute post-rental damage claims.
6. During the Rental
During the rental period, the Renter is responsible for:
- Operating the vehicle in accordance with applicable traffic laws - Maintaining the vehicle in the condition received - Using the vehicle only for the purposes disclosed at booking - Not allowing unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle - Reporting accidents, damage, or incidents to the Operator and Drive Connect promptly - Returning the vehicle with the same fuel level as received (or as specified in the listing)
The Renter may not: - Sublet or re-rent the vehicle - Use the vehicle for commercial purposes not disclosed at booking - Take the vehicle outside the agreed geographic area - Operate the vehicle under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances - Use the vehicle for racing or off-road activities
7. Vehicle Return
The Renter must return the vehicle at the agreed time and location. Late returns are subject to additional charges at the Operator's daily rate, plus applicable fees.
At vehicle return, the Renter and Operator must complete post-rental photo documentation through the Drive Connect platform. The Operator will inspect the vehicle and confirm its condition.
If the vehicle is returned in acceptable condition, the security deposit authorization is released. If damage is identified, the Operator may initiate the claims process.
8. Damage Responsibility
The Renter is responsible for damage to the vehicle that occurs during the rental period, beyond normal wear and tear.
Renters with Protection Plans: Damage claims are processed through Drive Protection Inc. in accordance with the Protection Plan Terms. The Renter is responsible for any deductible and costs not covered by the Protection Plan.
Renters without Protection Plans: Damage claims are filed against the Renter's personal auto insurance. The Renter is responsible for all damage costs not covered by their insurance.
The Operator initiates the damage claims process. Drive Connect provides document management support.
9. Accidents and Incidents
In the event of an accident or incident during the rental period:
1. Ensure the safety of all parties and call emergency services if needed 2. Contact the Operator immediately 3. Document the incident with photos 4. File a police report if required by law or requested by the Operator 5. Notify Drive Connect through the platform
The Renter must not admit liability or make any statements about insurance coverage at the scene of an accident.
10. Prohibited Uses
Vehicles may not be used for:
- Any illegal purpose - Transporting illegal substances - Racing or competitive driving events - Off-road use (unless specifically permitted by the Operator) - Commercial transportation of passengers for hire (rideshare, taxi) - Towing (unless specifically permitted by the Operator) - Driving outside the agreed geographic area
